É descrito um processo para o reforço ou para restaurar a resistência de um substrato de óxido frágil (12) que inclui os estágios de revestimento das extremidades do substrato de óxido frágil (12) com uma composição de reforço sem revestir uma porção significativa das superfícies planas maiores do substrato (12). O substrato de óxido frágil (12), tal que vidro, e uma janela contendo como vidraça da janela o vidro com extremidade reforçada (12) são também providos.
