Forma-se um filme primário de Ni, Fe e/ou Co sobre uma superfície de alumínio, e forma-se um filme de fosfato sobre a superfície de alumínio, sobre a qual este filme primário tenha sido formado, ou sobre um material composto de uma superfície de alumínio, sobre a qual tenha sido formado um filme primário, e uma folha de aço revestida a base de zinco. Este processo de tratamento superficial não é associado com problemas de poluição com ions Cr^ 6+^ e F^ -^, há pouca deterioração do líquido de tratamento para a formação do filme de fosfato com o uso.
