Abstract
Poli-oxi-metileno cíclico tendo peso molecular médio numérico de 500 a 5.000 é obtido pela reação de ciclização em estado sólido de um homopolímero de oxi-metileno linear, degradativo com alcali em presença de um meio contendo um catalisador catiônico. A ciclização é efetuada a 10 até 150°C por 1 a 500 minutos em um meio líquido orgânico. A mistura da reação obtida pela ciclização é tratada com um meio alcalino para hidrolizar e remover o homopolímero de poli-oxi-metileno linear não reagido, e isolar o poli-oxi-metileno cíclico. O produto tem uma distribuição de peso molecular nítida e é útil como aperfeiçoador da resina.
