A presente invenção refere-se a produção de hidrocarbonetos a partir de ésteres do ácido graxo contendo gorduras ou óleos graxos, os ésteres de ácido graxo são primeiramente dissociados por separação hidrolÃtica em um primeiro fluxo contendo álcool bruto e água e em um segundo fluxo contendo ácidos graxos livres e, a seguir, os ácidos graxos livres do segundo fluxo são hidrogenados com hidrogênio para hidrocarbonetos saturados.
