Abstract
"MÉTODO PARA O MELHORAMENTO DE SINALIZAÇÃO DE ILHOTA EM DIABETES MELITO E PARA SUA PREVENÇÃO." A presente invenção descreve um método para terapeuticamente tratar mamíferos, incluindo porém não limitados a seres humanos, para aumentar o desempenho de produção de insulina relativo de células pancreáticas endógenas e causar diferenciação de células epiteliais pancreáticas em células de produção de insulina. A administração oral de um inibidor de DP IV faz com que a forma ativa de GLP-1 seja preservada mais tempo sob condições fisiológicas. A presença estendida de GLP-1, em particular no tecido pancreático facilita a diferenciação e regeneração de células já presentes que estão em necessidade de reparo. Estas células de produção de insulina reparadas podem contribuir para a correção e manutenção de níveis glicêmicos fisiológicos normais.
