O elemento filtrante inclui um anel de meio filtrante disposto em torno de um tubo de suporte central. O meio filtrante compreende uma camada plissada de meio, incluindo pontas de pregas internas adjacentes ao tubo e pontas de pregas externas radialmente espaçadas para fora do tubo. A camada varia em espessura entre as pontas, de modo que uma porção mais fina do meio está nas pontas das pregas internas do que nas pontas das pregas externas.
