Conjunto de barra de segurança (10). O conjunto (10) é para ser colocado sobre ou em uma abertura (17) e tem uma pluralidade de barras (12) se estendendo entre dois canais (16), os dois canais (16) posicionados em lados opostos da abertura (17), com as barras (12) deslizáveis dentro dos canais (16). As barras (12) são consctadas em cada extremidade dentro dos canais (16) para um mecanismo de transporte (20) em cada canal (16) coordenado para deslizar as barras (12) através da abertura (17). Um sistema de acionamento é provido para o mecanismo de transporte (30), e guias (44, 46) nas extremidades dos canais guiam (16) e retém as barras (12) em área de armazenagem (24) substancialmente adjacente à abertura (17).
