A presente invenção refere-se a um método para a fabricação de um material de papel expandido com núcleo em forma de favo à prova d'água ou de umidade, como também o material com núcleo em forma de favo obtido com a utilização de tal método. De acordo com a presente invenção, o material com núcleo em forma de favo é provido com um revestimento após sua expansão, sendo o revestimento, de preferência, aplicado com um pó de um plástico de polímero.
