A presente invenção proporciona um processo para a preparação de uma fibra sintética encolada compreendendo as etapas de: (a) preparar uma composição de encolamento para materiais sintéticos usada na manufatura têxtil compreendendo (i) um agente umectante ou lubrificante e (ii) uma composição aglutinante compreendendo amido e um produto de reação de estireno e 1,3-butadieno onde o citado amido é caracterizado por possuir uma viscosidade intríseca de cerca de 0,07gl/g a cerca de 0,35 dl/g; (b) encolar a fibra sintética com a composição de encolamento da fibra encolada.
