A regulação da menstruação e, quando desejado, a contracepção são conseguidas com baixas doses de estrogênio e progestina, que de outra forma criariam episódios de sangramento de estancamento e/ou amenorréia de suspensão, induzindo-se periodicamente menstruação com uma antiprogestina.
