A presente invenção se destina a separar o couro curtido em proteína, xarope de cromo e água a partir de resíduos de couro curtido ao cromo. O referido processo utiliza ácidos, álcalis, água e aquecimento. A proteína obtida pode ser novamente processada até o estado gel, forma apropriada para a fabricação de cola animal.
