O flange lateral de diâmetro maior (85) possui uma abertura entalhada longitudinalmente (87) para permitir que uma estrutura compósita (120) seja formada por encaixe do flange de menor diâmetro (83) no flange de diâmetro maior (85) de uma peça estrutural adjacente (80). A estrutura compósita (120) que possui uma pluralidade de peças estruturais interligadas (80) pode ser montada como uma estrutura fechada ou aberta.
