Abstract
Um processo de produzir um pentafluoreto de nióbio ou de tântalo anidro que envolve reagir o pentóxido ou oxi-halogeneto correspondente com um excesso de fluoreto de hidrogênio anidro na presença de um agente desidratante suficiente (por exemplo, COCl~ 2~, SOCl~ 2~ ou SO~ 2~Cl~ 2~) para reagir com alguma água formada. Um tal processo é útil para produzir um pentafluoreto de nióbio ou de tântalo anidros cataliticamente ativos em essencialmente uma única etapa de reação em fase líquida.
