São descritos vidros de fluoretos de baixo ponto fusão, resistentes à cristalização, que são constituídos essencialmente por ZrF~ 4~ , opcionalmente HfF~ 4~ , BaF~ 2~ , pelo menos um entre CsF ou NaF, de preferência AlF~ 3~ e LaF~ 3~ , e pelo menos um entre InF~ 3~ , YF~ 3~ e GaF~ 3~ . Os vidros são utilizados como componente ópticos devido à sua alta transmissão no IV.
