O limitador é constituído por um corpo que funciona como anteparo, isto é, encosto de referência. A fixação deste corpo é feita através de um conjunto parafuso-castanhas, acionado por uma chave em "T". A localização do Limitador é feita por um eixo graduado com função de posicionar e, ao mesmo tempo, travar. O uso do Limitador é vantajoso para produção de séries de peças em tornos convencionais ou CNC.
