Os processos incluemuma etapa de desidratação à base de uma membrana, que usa uma membrana que tem uma camada seletiva de polÃmero à base de dioxol ou similar e umacamada seletiva hidrofÃlica e pode operar mesmo quando a corrente a sertratada tiver um alto teor de água, tal como 10 % em peso ou mais. Os processos são particularmente úteis para a desidratação do etanol.
