PRODUÇÃO DE ÁCIDOS NUCLÉICOS ESTRANHOS E POLIPEPTIDEOS EM SISTEMAS DE PLANTA. A presente invenção refere-se a sistemas e métodos para produção de um ácido nuclé iço ou proteína em plantas jovens. Tipicamente, as plantas jovens são crescidas em um ambiente regulável contido. Em algumas concretizações, expressão de uma proteína farmaceuticamente ativa nas plantas jovens é controlada por um promotor exogenamente induzível ou um promotor viral. Em algumas concretizações, as plantas jovens são comiveis e podem ser comidas vivas ou preferivelmente colhidas vivas para preservar a atividade biológica máxima do ácido nucléico ou proteína. Em algumas concretizações, a planta jovem é uma planta de ervilha jovem ou uma planta Nicotiana jovem.
