São descritas composições úteis para a eliminação de biofilmes microbianos que compreendem agentes quelantes seqúestrantes dos cátions cálcio, magnésio e ferro, estabilizadores da matriz da cobertura extracelular polimérica, podendo estar associado a um antibiótico, a um corante catiônico ou a álcoois, agindo nas bactérias e destruindo a estrutura do biofilme.
