Catalisadores para oxicloração de etileno a 1,2-DCE que compreendem compostos de cobre e magnésio suportados em alumina, nos quais o cobre, expresso como metal, está presente em um montante de 7 a 12% em peso, sendo a razão Mg/Cu de 0,05 a 1 e em que a razão entre a concentração de cobre fornecida pela razão A1/Cu, na superficie e a que é fornecida pela razão A1/Cu na partícula inteira de catalisador é de 0,8 a 1,3.
