Abstract
"PROCESSO PARA A PREPARAÇÃO DE POLÍMEROS DE ESTIRENO EXPANSÍVEIS, E, POLÍMERO DE ESTIRENO EXPANSÍVEL". A invenção refere-se a um método para a produção de poliestireno expansível com um peso molecular M~ W~ acima de 170.000 g/mol. De acordo com a invenção, uma massa fundida de poliestireno contendo um agente de expansão e possuindo uma temperatura de pelo menos 120 C é passada através de uma fieira possuindo orifícios, cujo diâmetro na saída da fieira mede no máximo 1,5 mm, e é então granulada. A invenção também se refere aos polímeros de estireno expansíveis (EPS) com um peso molecular M~ w~ maior do que 170.000 g/mol e entre 0,05% e 1,5% em peso de umidade inerente.
