Ferramentas de abrasivo ligado, tendo novas estruturas porosas, permeáveis ao fluxo de fluido, incluem uma percentagem em volume de grão abrasivo e de liga relativamente baixa, e possuem um grau de dureza relativamente baixo, mas são caracterizadas por resistência mecânica e desempenho de retífica excelentes. São descritos métodos para fabricação das ferramentas abrasivas que utilizam grão abrasivo aglomerado.
