A presente invenção refere-se à aplicação de compostos da fórmula (I) R-COO(CH~ 2~CH~ 2~O)~ n~H (I), na qual R representa um radical alquila ou alquileno saturado ou insaturado, linear ou ramificado com 5 até 21 átomos de carbono e n representa um número de 0,5 até 1,5, como agentes de alisamento para fibras sintéticas e naturais, de preferência, para fibras de lã.
