Trata-se de um dispositivo expansível compreendendo uma pluralidade de células expansíveis. As células podem ser células biestáveis ou outros tipos de células que são expandidas de uma posição contraída para una posição expandida. Adicionalmente, as células podem ser combinadas com mecanismos de bloqueio para manutenção da estrutura numa posição expandida.
