Uma placa bipolar de célula de combustível (12) incluindo um lado de combustível (22) tendo uma série de canais de combustível (24) que definem respectivas trajetórias de combustível e um lado de oxidante (16) tendo uma série de canais de oxidante (18) que definem respectivas trajetórias de oxidante. Pelo menos alguns dos canais de combustível (24) são desviados dos canais de oxidante adjacentes (18) em uma direção transversal às trajetórias de combustível e de oxidante.
