Abstract

Patente de Invenção: "GENE CONTROLADOR DA RAMIFICAÇÃO DE REBENTOS EM PLANTAS". A presente invenção se refere a um gene que codifica a enzima metabolizante da citocinina, denominada SPS, que foi isolada a partir de Arabidopsis mutante, sps. O mutante SPS exibe um padrão anormal de ramificação de rebentos e programa de desenvolvimento. O gene SPS tem a seqüência de nucleotídios da SEQ ID NO:1. Também são divulgados métodos para isolar um gene de planta que codifique uma enzima metabolizante da citocinina. Além disso, a invenção inclui plantas novas transformadas com o gene SPS operativamente ligadas a um promotor ativo de planta, bem como métodos para alterar o crescimento ou desenvolvimento de plantas contendo um gene SPS.
