About the company

Who is Globo

It all began with a newspaper. O Globo, founded by Irineu Marinho in Rio de Janeiro in 1925, became a companion at tables across the country. In 1944 the name reached radio, the trademark was filed in 1951, and later came television: TV Globo went on the air in 1965 and came to occupy the living rooms of millions of Brazilians.

With TV, the group's brands multiplied in everyday life. Malhação, on the air from 1995 to 2020, was a companion to generations of young people. Multishow brought music and humor to pay TV, and Canal OFF brought the sea and the mountains to the television set.

Today, Grupo Globo moves between its analog legacy and the digital universe. Mestre do Sabor and Globoplay take the brand to new screens. From newsstands to streaming, Globo keeps Brazilians company at every moment of the day.
