"APARELHO POSSUINDO UM COMPONENTE QUE PODE VIBRAR MECANICAMENTE, FREIO DE PINÇA FLUTUANTE OU ESTRUTURA FLUTUANTE, FREIO DE TAMBOR, PASTILHA DE FREIO PARA UM FREIO A DISCO, SAPATA DE FREIO PARA UM FREIO DE TAMBOR, PISTÃO DE ATUAÇÃO PARA UM FREIO, PORTADOR DE FREIO PARA UM FREIO A DISCO, E, PLACA ÂNCORA PARA UM FREIO DE TAMBOR" A invenção é relativa ao amortecimento de vibrações mecânicas de componentes em dispositivos, especialmente o amortecimento de componentes de freios (10). Pelo menos um elemento piezelétrico é fornecido com esta finalidade, dito elemento piezelétrico engatando com o componente de vibração (16, 22, 24) e sendo excitado eletricamente de tal maneira que ele amortece as vibrações do componente.
