Mais particularmente, a presente invenção utiliza tecnologia de DNA recombinante para pós-transcricionalmente modificar ou modular a expressão de um gene alvo de uma célula, tecido, órgão ou organismo interno, desse modo produzindo novos fenótipos. São também fornecidos novos genes sintéticos e construções de gene que são capazes de reprimir o retardo da ou de outro modo reduzir a expressão de um gene endógeno ou um gene alvo de um organismo, quando introduzidos no mesmo.
