Os sais de ácido da trovafloxacina são preparados por hidrólise de iminas intermediárias utilizando um ácido mineral, incluindo mas não se limitando a ácido metanossulfônico, ácido etanossulfônico, ácido benzenossulfônico, ácido nítrico, ácido sulfúrico, ácido fosfórico, ácido clorídrico, ácido bromídrico, ácido tartárico, ácido cítrico, ácido acético e ácido maleico. Os sais de ácido da trovafloxacinasão úteis como agentes antibióticos.
