Abstract
Patente de Invenção: "INDUÇÃO DE ESTERILIDADE MASCULINA EM PLANTAS POR EXPRESSÃO DE ALTOS NÍVEIS DE AVIDINA". As plantas machos estéreis podem ser produzidas aumentando-se a concentração endógena de avidina nos tecidos das plantas. Este efeito pode ser obtido produzindo-se plantas transgênicas contendo um vetor de expressão, no qual um promotor está operavelmente ligado a uma seqüência de DNA codificando a avidina. São divulgados os métodos para restabelecer a fertilidade masculina. Adicionalmente, são proporcionados métodos para a produção de sementes com uma ou mais características desejadas dos grãos.
