A invenção refere-se à utilização do 9,10-secocolesta-5,7,10 (19)-trien-1,3-ol ou alfacalcidol para a fabricação de um medicamento destinado ao tratamento e/ou à prevenção dos cânceres sólidos dos seres humanos, especialmente o câncer do pulmão e os cânceres do encéfalo. A dose eficaz está compreendida entre 0,25 e 10 µg / dia para um adulto de 60 kg.
