Peças moldadas que se expandem e curam por meio de aquecimento baseadas em borracha de polibutadieno e sistemas de vulcanização, livres de enxofre elementar, são distingüidos pelas seguintes propriedades vantajosas: no estado não-curado em que elas são supridas, elas têm mínima resiliência elástica da borracha e são facilmente formáveis. Durante o processo de cura, nenhum odor desagradável é emitido e, após a cura, é formada uma espuma leve e elástica com uma película externa. contínua.
