Derivados de éster de ácido carboxílico de fórmula 1: onde R é C~ 1~-C~ 6~ alquila, R^ 2^ eR^ 3^ são independentemente hidrogênio ou C~ 1~-C~ 3~ alquila, e Q é opcionalmente fenila substituída, podem ser facilmente convertidos por fechamento de anel em derivados de piridazin-3-ona de fórmula (7): Os ácidos carboxílicos de fórmula (1) podem ser produzidos ao se reagir compostos de hidrazona de fórmula (5): onde R^ 3^ e Q são conforme definidos acima, com derivados de monoéster de ácido malônico de fórmula (6): onde R e R^ 2^ são conforme acima definidos, na presença de uma base.
