A presente invenção refere-se a preparação de 1-butil-4-piperidinil metil amina, em que o processo compreende: i) a reação de isonipecotamida e 1-bromobutano para dar o derivado de N-butila de isonipectoamina; seguido da ii) redução com LiA1H~ 4~, caracterizado pelo fato de que as reações i) e ii) são realizadas em tolueno como solvente.
