Uma formulação farmacêutica que compreende um hormônio de crescimento pré-tratado com zinco e opcionalmente com lisina ou com íons de cálcio apresenta uma estabilidade muito alta contra desamidação oxidação e clivagem de ligações de peptídeo. A estabilidade do produto permite a estocagem e o transporte do mesmo em um estado liofilizado ou na forma de uma formulação dissolvida ou redissolvida à temperatura ambiente.
