Pode ser produzido um negro-de-fumo tratado pelo tratamento do negro-de-fumo com pelo menos um polietileno glicol tendo um peso molecular de cerca de 1.000 a cerca de 1.000.000. O negro-de-fumo tratado pode ser usado na formação de composições poliméricas, tais que compostos semicondutores e isolantes, por exemplo para uso em cabos elétricos.
