Abstract
Patente de Invenção: "LENTES OFTÁLMICAS DE USO PROLONGADO". É descrita uma lente oftálmica que é adequada para uso por períodos prolongados de tempo de pelo menos um dia no olho sem uma quantidade clinicamente significante de intruescimento corneal e sem substâncial desconforto do usuário. A lente tem um equilíbrio de permeabilidade a oxigênio e de permeabilidade à água ou íon, com permeabilidade`a água ou íon sendo suficiente para proporcionar bom movimento no olho, de modo que uma boa troca de lágrimas ocorre entre a lente e o olho. Uma lente preferida é o produto de copolimerização de um macrômero permeável a oxigênio e de um monômero permeável a íon. A presente invenção engloba lentes de contato de uso prolongado, que incluem um núcleo tendo trajetos de transmissão de oxigênio e trajetos de transmissão de íons estendendo-se a partir da superfície interna para a superfície externa.
