A presente invenção é dirigida a derivados de biciclo-heptanodiona substituída representados pela fórmula geral [I]; onde R representa alquila C~ 1~-C~ 4~, R^ 1^ representa hidrogênio, alquila C~ 1~-C~ 4~, aralquila, um haloalquila C~ 2~-C~ 4~, alcóxi C~ 1~-C~ 4~-alquila C~ 1~-C~ 4~, haloalquila C~ 1~-c~ 4~, haloalquila C~ 2~-C~ 4~, etc. e R^ 2^ representa fenila opcionalmente substituída ou piridila opcionalmente substituída, aos sais destes e a herbicidas compreendendo os mesmos como o ingrediente ativo.
