É proporcionado um processo para produzir um material base para óleos lubrificantes de alta qualidade com um catalisador possuindo uma alta seletividade de índice de viscosidade e baixa razão de incrustação. O catalisador contém uma pequena quantidade de zeólito, e tem uma distribuição de tamanho de poros caracterizada por uma quantidade siginificativa de poros grandes.
