Um processo para a polimerização de uma olefina na presença de um sistema catalisador composto por: a) um metaloceno do halogênio, b) um co-catalisador que forma um ânion estável, c) um agente de alquilação contendo alumínio, em que o agente de alquilação contendo alumínio é uma mistura ou produto de reação de um composto alquil alumínio e um álcool.
