Um aumento no peso molecular de poliéster e de poliéster reciclado pode ser alcançado por misturação do dito poliéster com uma resina epóxi difuncional e um éster ou semi-éster de ácido hidroxifenilalquilfosfônico estericamente impedido e aquecimento da mistura para acima do ponto de fusão (temperatura de transição vítrea) do poliéster.
