Abstract
Uma família de genes foi encontrada em plantas, os referidos genes codificando uma família de proteínas em desenvolvimento que têm estruturas homólogas aos genes QM de mamíferos. Um promotor QM e promotores específicos de antera foram isolados. Moléculas recombinantes que incluem os genes QM em plantas são úteis para transformar células e regenerar plantas que, como resultado, têm trajetórias de desenvolvimento alteradas. Os processos de produzir plantas estéreis machos utilizam moléculas recombinantes contendo os genes de sentido QM ou genes de antisentido com promotores apropriados.
