Abstract
É descrito um processo para a delignificação de um material ligno celulósico que consiste na exposição do material, em pH de 6,0 a 9,5, a uma mistura de ácido monopersulfúrico e uma cetona da fórmula I, na qual R^ 1^ e R^ 2^ são independentemente selecionados do grupo constituído por alquila e arila, ou R^ 1^ e R^ 2^ em conjunto formam um carbociclo. É descrita também uma mistura para a delignificação de polpa kraft que compreende, em combinação: (a) água; (b) de cerca de 0,05 a cerca de 0,3 moles por litro de uma cetona como acima descrita; (c) de cerca de 0,0008 a cerca de 0,50 moles por litro de ácido monopersulfúrico; e (d) tampão em quantidade suficiente para manter o pH da composição entre cerca de pH 6 e cerca de pH 9,5.
