Abstract
Proporciona-se um processo e aparelho para reduzir o perigo de cortar uma passagem ou órgão do corpo durante um procedimento cirúrgico pela inserção de um cateter (2) dentro da passagem ou do órgão (18), em que o cateter (2) possui no seu interior um irradiador de infravermelho (4) e empregando um sistema de detecção de infravermelho (20) que produz um sinal detectável, indicador da proximidade de uma sonda de infravermelho com a passagem ou órgão.
