A invenção apresenta um método para regular o crescimento de planta, o qual compreende a aplicação a uma planta com frutos de uma quantidade de ácido 3,5,6-tricloro-2-piridiloxiacético ou um éster alquílico (C1-10) inferior ou sal do mesmo que é não fitotóxica e eficaz para proporcionar tamanho ou qualidade aumentada dos frutos ou amdurecimento mais rápido dos mesmos sem provocar rareação significativa.
