Sistema e processo de diálise peritoneal aplicam pressão de fluido para impelir o líquido. Os sistemas e processos podem emular ou uma condição de altura fixa de coluna ou condições de alturas de coluna diferentes, independente do diferencial real de altura de coluna entre a cavidade peritoneal do paciente e a fonte externa ou destino externo do líquido. Os sistemas e processos podem tembém variar entre uma modalidade de fluxo de pressão de valor relativo baixo, quando prevalecem considerações do conforto e segurança do paciente, e uma modalidade de fluxo de pressão de valor relativo alto quando prevalecem considerações de velocidade de processamento.
