Abstract
Trata-se de um sistema de segurança de cartão aperfeiçoado, onde uma porção oticamente legível sobre o cartão é incorporada à tira magnética legível a máquina. A porção oticamente legível pode incluir uma representação halográfica de um código de barras, ou outro gerador de dígitos óticos convencionalmente conhecido. A informação do dígito verificador, ótico e magnético, lido por máquina, é convertida em pulsos elétricos que, ou se combinam de acordo com a informação contida por um centro de autenticação de cartão central, em cujo caso a aprovação à transação é fornecida, ou a informação magnética e ótica separadamente legível não combina, e a aprovação à transação é negada.
