Abstract
Um processo para remover contaminantes de componentes de FET por despolimerização de tereftalato de poli etileno ("PET") compreendendo transesterificar material contendo PET por reação de etanodiol tendo uma temperatura em ou aproximadamente no ponto de ebulição de etanodiol com o material por um período de tempo predeterminado para formar uma solução contendo polímeros de PET de cadeia curta solúveis e/ou éster de tereftalato bis(hidróxi etil) ("BHT"); recuperar polímeros de PET de cadeia curta e/ou BHT e etanodiol; e hidrosilar os polímeros PET de cadeia curta recuperados e/ou BHT em pressão e temperatura elevadas por um período de tempo predeterminado para formar uma solução de etanodiol e cristais de ácido tereftálico.
