O núcleo-I é justaposto a um núcleo-E, com as superfícies extremas das pernas do núcleo-E se defrontando com o núcleo-I. O dispositivo eletromagnético tem uma trajetória magnética substancialmente fechada para os indutores diferenciais e para os indutores de modo comum.
