Uma composição dispersante para pigmentos inorgânicos que é útil na preparação de composições de revestimento aquosas compreende um copolímero vinila ou um copolímero acrílico, e um sal de um metal de transição ou metal terra rara. O uso da composição dispersante da presente invenção tem a vantagem inesperada de diminuir a viscosidade de composições contendo pigmento inorgânico.
